I’ve not used a guide yet on DS3 but I’m extremely tempted to because I feel I am missing out on cool stuff/content and I won’t lie, something that gets me is when I move on and don’t get the next bonfire and have to start again.

CASUAL GAMES WALKTHROUGH SERIES

He ruined the series for himself by refusing to use a walkthrough! xD My friend gave up on the souls series because he got stuck there and couldn’t progress, thinking the game was just intended to be difficult. Alternatively, if you play DS1, you might get stuck in the cemetery right off the bat fighting invincible skeletons from hell.

Say you wanted to build a dark mage build…but failed the questline that gave you access to the spells…that is always the worst feeling in souls games. However, if you want to focus on a particular playstyle or weapon choice…getting to the end of the game before realizing you failed a questline to receive certain items that would benefit you is much worse than spoiling a few enemy locations. I understand you spoil a few things by reading where all the items are…but no walkthrough is gonna beat the bosses for you and that part of the experience is always the fun part. There is just too much at stake if you don’t. I honestly have always used walkthroughs for the souls games.

I know I'm going to keep using the walkthrough after seeing all the things I would have missed without it, but I really wish there was a middle ground between having it all mapped out for me in black and white and playing blindly but cutting myself off from so much of the game because the levels are so intricate and full of secrets. And although I have peace of mind that I'm clearing the level of every last piece of equipment that's there for the taking, I'm missing out on the thrill of finding these things for myself. So I've seen a lot of people advice you don't use a walkthrough on your first playthrough, but seeing all the myriad things I would have missed if I didn't have someone tapping me on the shoulder and saying "hey, you might want to jump off this elevator halfway through the ride", I feel like I would be cutting myself off from a lot of good weapons/items/fights if I played through a level like this blind.īut the downside of this is I now know what's around every corner before I turn it. For instance, I'm in the Undead Settlement and I could have missed a fire dragon, numerous weapons, recruitable characters and an entire boss fight if I wasn't following a walkthrough. In Dark Souls you can miss A LOT if you're not thorough. And not the good kind where you know eventually you'll work your way through the entire level. However, these levels are freaking labyrinths.

Really enjoying the game so far, little bit easier than I expected but I'm sure it's just because it's early goings. This is my first Dark Souls game, I chose to jump in here because I loved Bloodborne and this Souls's gameplay seemed to resemble it the most.
